Environmental marketing claims are important valuable marketing tools that should be truthful and honest.
Our Approach
We worked closely with the Federal Trade Commission on its guidance for environmental marketing claims. In particular, we wanted to ensure that products or packages that are only partially made of recycled material be adequately qualified to avoid consumer deception about the amount (by weight) of recycled content in the finished product or package. Products made with only a small percentage of recovered materials should be clearly differentiated from products containing large percentages of recovered materials.
