PRC Applauds Senators Working to Protect Paper Recycling Jobs

On May 9, 2019, Senators Stabenow (D-MI), Boozman (R-AR), Carper (D-DE), Isakson (R-GA), Cassidy (R-LA) and Baldwin (D-WI) introduced S. 1396, the “PAPER (Protecting America’s Paper for Recycling) Act.” This legislation mitigates continued ambiguity in the law that permits WtE facilities to receive a federal subsidy for the burning of paper that could otherwise be recycled.

As PRC Chairman Brian McPheely notes: “The bill ensures the continued availability of clean, commonly recycled paper that is critical to sustaining and growing America’s paper recycling industry. We thank these Senators for their continued support of this vital industry and the 50,000 U.S. manufacturing jobs it represents.”
