Recycling a Renewable Resource is a Win-Win
The members of the Paper Recycling Coalition not only recycle paper, but they recycle products made from a renewable resource, wood and plant fiber, which is a true win-win for the environment. This is an entirely different resource production cycle than plastics or metals, for example, which are made from non-renewable oil, gas, and minerals.
Why is this important? The USDA Forest Service’s Forest Products Laboratory, in a World Resource Review article, said, “The advantage of recycling is increased when it is renewable materials that are being recycled.”* Recycling a renewable resource is far more sustainable both environmentally and economically than recycling alone.
